Similar to a logo, I sketched all and any ideas to find the best one to represent the African Films Festival in Portland. In this case, I chose idea #11 of a family holding a film strip with the boy peeping through.

Final Poster

Finessed and transferred the custom illustration and text to the computer, applying key design principles like hierarchy, color, and alignment to the poster.
